Those of you reading with a '3' in the tens column place of your age (or maybe with a '2' if following number is above '5') remember a game called Mega Man and its hand-breaking hardness, its mind-destroying difficulty. Especially the 1st one. It got slightly easier over time during that great NES run but the Mega Man series in the Nintendo days was always an example of the common skill demands game designers put on their players back in the day.Now with the downloadable new sequel of the old style Mega Man series, Mega Man 9, your hands will be glad to know that that rewarding "challenge" is back. Game producer Hironobu Takeshita explains the reasoning:
"Mega Man 9 is very hard. We didn't want to do Mega Man, but easy. We want players to get better, we want them to remember. I've always tried to challenge players, and I think there are gamers who miss being challenged by games."
